![]() ![]() Which will basically serve as a game mechanic, within the game mechanics. There seems to be an update how mods will work on Starcraft 2, there's a new 'method' where modders don't necessarily need to constantly modify mods, they can simply create a blank "super mod", called extension mod. Though it sucks how little informative they are for this change. I hope in the near future we get new campaigns and maps, completely in starcrat 2. So do not get pessimistic, I hope there's a workaround at the availability of the new assets, for easier modding of course. Those models are the imported wc3 mpq models(originals/vanilla) and they look utterly like shit. To all the others, after you download the PTR, there will be a mod there with wc3, that is NOT the blizzard assets. It's a shame, having them there, and not being able to view them. I assume it has to do with the folders wc3 assets and wc3 data, which are now in the PTR folder of starcraft II?. :/ I have no idea how to do what you just said, though.Įdit: super good, could you please elaborate further as to how one 'moves' these files to the mod folder? I don't want to risk breaking the game and am not willing to take any chances. I thought it would be as easy as have a group in the editor which said Wc3 assets. It's nice to feel appreciated now and again. Thanks man, well that's the part I didn't understand. But anyway I'm not sure whether SS3 is an official "go" yet, or all this buzz is just built on the same bad article from a year ago, in which case EA hasn't publicly committed to SS3 any more now than then.)īut, in any event, I have to agree it's energizing to see all this attention on PC gaming all coming together. although granted I haven't really looked for it. There has been some recent buzz about SS3, but I haven't read anything "official" coming out of EA yet. (By the way, that article you posted was just repeating the now-debunked PCGamer article from last year (you can tell by its date). It's so clearly, IMO, coattailing off the buzz coming from Bioshock, but the fact that they snubbed Ken Levine so pointedly, and *now* they come back ready to "care" about remaking it. but there are enough clues (they control the IP they are recruiting people with skills that, of all the IP they own to make a new game, only match with X-Com their lawyer accidentally leaked the name etc) that there isn't really any doubt left about it anymore. You can tell the difference between Blizzard and EA ever so clearly.Ī sequel to X-Com is also going to be developed by Irrational, although it hasn't been specifically announced yet. Starcraft 2 though these videos just put C&C 3 to shame. I just love the creation of games themselves. What's funny is I'm not that into Starcraft itself. With that plus the talent they got, Starcraft 2 is on a course for greatness. They got Starcraft which is the #1 RTS in the world. They didn't have to really start from scratch. Starcraft 2 is going to be something incredible. The level of detail, fluild animation, just flat out Blizzard quality. And of course this is one game they definitely don't want to rush. It is a lengthy development period, but given all the WoW work they've been doing in between that isn't surprising either. I'd be willing to bet that networking more or less works as well, since you pretty much have to build that in to the design from the start if you want to avoid major headaches later. And there's doubtless a whole lot of stuff they didn't show (base building, resource management). ![]() They've got a whole bunch of units in with animations, combat working with all its flashy effects, pathfinding and other per-unit AI working, and even nukes. Doesn't surprise me, given the level of detail in the gameplay footage. ![]()
